The Basilica Cistern contains hundreds of marble columns arranged across the vast underground space. Many came from older structures, giving the interior an unusual mix of architectural styles and providing clues to the city’s Roman and Byzantine heritage.

Among the most memorable features are the two carved Medusa heads positioned beneath columns in the northwestern section of the cistern. Their orientation and origin remain the subject of stories and speculation, adding another layer of intrigue to the visit.

Très bel endroit à visiter et les jeux de lumière sont très beaux. Avec l'entrée coupe-file pas d'attente. L'audio guide par contre n'est pas top.
